Mother paralysed in a car crash is woken from a coma by her son who then chews her food and mouth feeds her

In 2010, an expectant mother named Zhang Rongxiang was in a terrible car crash which caused her to slip into a coma.

When she was rushed to hospital, doctors found she was pregnant
They cared for her, letting the baby grow for five months, then delivered him via C-section.

Ever since his birth, Gao Qianbo stayed by his mother’s side as she stayed in a coma.
What happened next is amazing.
She awoke to the sound of his voice in May, meeting him for first time

Her son even learned to feed her by chewing her food and transferring it to her via mouth-to-mouth.
She can swallow so Gao chews up food and feeds her mouth to mouth

While she is able to swallow, she cannot chew her food. So to avoid having to eat pureed hospital meals, she is given regular food which Gao Qianbo helpfully chews and then tenderly passes from his mouth to hers.


Gao Qianbo spends every day by his mother's bedside to her eat and stay happy.


Doctors' were astonished when she miraculously woke to the sound of Gao's little voice in May this year


The family has survived mainly on government subsistence with some support from relatives and friends, According the Yangtze Evening Post.
